Biography / Francisco Ramón Prada Barazarte
El Flaco Prada, was born in Escuque, Trujillo state, Venezuela, in the year 1934, son of Mary and Patrick Petronila Barazarte Prada who made him a man of his word to comply. Studied primary education in his hometown and high school at the Liceo de Valera Rafael Rangel, Trujillo state and Fermín Toro of Caracas, then admitted to study Anthropology at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, has always been an involved student and revolutionary ideas. From its beginnings as a militant belonged to the Communist Youth, began participating in political activities, from the anti-Perez Jimenez, was taken prisoner on 6 April 1957 by the National Security and sent to the prison of Ciudad Bolívar where he remained as a political prisoner along with other leaders of civil resistance to the fall of dictator Marcos Pérez Jiménez. As an anthropologist began in its social commitment to work with indigenous communities in the Upper Capanaparo Pume, Apure state and Ata Guajira Wayuu in Zulia state, assuming a thought, vision and practice from critical anthropology and committed to these ethnic groups, which led him to confront those who have always had committed crimes and systematic ethnocide against these peoples.
